Home Remedies For Acne Scars - Do They Work?

Acne is bad enough, but when it is gone that doesn't mean the mark left on your face as well as your self-confidence is. It is a common problem affecting adults and teens alike. Once the red rampage of acne is over, it often leaves a battle field looking patch on your face of dried, rough and scared texture. This is however, not untreatable. Even better is that you will not have to break the bank or your insurance card in the process. Instead, a trip to the pantry, freezer or fridge will often supply you with all the home remedies necessary for a successful treatment.
Home remedies have often led to solutions that the medical field have not been able to patent and profit from; just because they do not come in an overpriced gel tube, prescription pill bottle or procedure does not mean that they should be deemed ineffective.
The first and easiest home remedy for acne scars is using ice; a practically free object used in everyday life. The administering of ice is as easy as you probably imagine it is, apply the ice to the affected area of skin.

Sounds too easy to be effective right?
Wrong.
The application of ice to the scarring will reduce the inflammation, moisten the damaged area, and in result amplify the healing process speed. This process is most effective if done multiple times a day for intervals of 15-30 minutes at a time.
The second choice of the available home remedies is Olive Oil. Olive oil is known as a very common and effective home remedy for things from hair care to chapped lips. The treatment is not exclusive to those however, but instead extraordinarily effective in diminishing the appearance while soothing the scarring. This process effectively smoothes, soothes and lightens the scars best when administered everyday, once when you wake up after a shower, and once before going to bed.
Another way to treat acne scarring is lemon juice. Lemon juice will not only improve the healing of your scars, but it will also lighten the often darkened scarred tone left on your skin. The best juice to use would be from a fresh squeezed lemon and left on to soak in for twenty to thirty minutes before being washed off.
These are not the only treatment options which can be used to treat acne scars; cucumbers, baking soda, and aloe vera have proven themselves effective. Like the others it is best to apply and let soak before washing off. The process of administering these remedies are as important as the products themselves. Therefore, when it comes to home remedies for acne scars, the most important thing to remember is to be patient, hopeful and gentle. Healing processes may not be immediate, or even fast, but when persistently attended to, it will be in motion.
